Sue Ruby

Native Kentuckian Sue Ruby began her lifelong love affair with color as a buyer for the famed Lazarus Department Store in Columbus, Ohio.  Moving to Savannah in 1976, she continues her buying career with Adler's, an original anchor store at the Oglethorpe Mall.  Sue created a beautiful home on downtown Jones Street and developed a cherished friendship with acclaimed Savannah painter Myrtle E. Jones that lasted until the artist's death in 20212.  She represented Jones' art for over 20 years, recently giving a lecture on her legacy at the Senior Citizens Learning Center.  In 2011, Sue chaired Telfair Museums 31st Annual Telfair Ball, a highly anticipated event that honored the institution's 125th anniversary.  In tandem with art curator Peter Roberts, she added an additional party that featured an extraordinarily successful silent auction of works by local and regional artists.  Today, Sue remains an enthusiastic advocate and collector of southern art (and Bourbons).
